The audience in the Broadway theater were on their feet in rapturous applause, but the show hadn't even started.They stood up to wel e President Obama and his two daughters as they entered the Richard Rodgers theater to watch the musical Hamilton - bringing the curtain down on their whistle-stop tour of New York. The Commander-in-chief, a well known fan of theater, guided Malia, 17, and Sasha, 14, to their seats as the excited crowd took pictures on their cellphones.The President sat in his seat while wearing reading glasses as his two daughters sat in the row in front of him with other guests and family. He even smiled and waved to the crowd in a moment of thanks for them clapping for him. The trio lingered in an Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village past 11pm on Friday before driving the motorcade around the city's streets then taking a private after-hours tour of the new Whitney Museum on the Hudson River. As the performance came to an end, he took a helicopter to JFK International Airport to board a flight to McCarran Air Force base - ending his two-day trip to see his daughters. On Saturday, as sun broke, they made made a beeline for Central Park, joined by the president's sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng and her husband, Konrad Ng.Maya, Obama's maternal half-sister, is a university instructor based in their native Hawaii. The siblings share a very close relationship despite living far apart. Her husband Konrad, a Chinese-Canadian, is the director of the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center and also a university professor in Hawaii.They strolled along the park's pathways, bringing pedicabs, bikers, skaters, horse-drawn carriages and walkers to a screeching halt as people whipped out cellphones to capture the moment.Malia, dressed in a casual denim jacket and playsuit, was seeing laughing heartily as she chatted to her aunt Maya. Meanwhile Sasha stuck to her father's side. Both in sunglasses, he beamed and proudly put his arm around Sasha, while she flashed a cool smile at the cameras.
